A Beautiful Backdrop

Gainesville has earned many nicknames over the years because of its’ valuable location and because of its people. The most notable are Queen City of the Mountains and the Poultry Capital. The city sits halfway between the Appalachian Mountains and the urban city center of Atlanta. Also known as a City of Excellence, Gainesville is home to over 35,000 people.  Located on the shores of Lake Sidney Lanier and at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Gainesville, Georgia is the tourism and economic center of Northeast Georgia.

Travelers often can be seen taking photographs of the quaint downtown historic buildings, some of which date back to the late 1800s. Nearby Lake Lanier offers swimming, boating, camping and beautiful scenery. 

Established in 1874 when "cotton was king," the central core of Flowery Branch is steeped in history with turn-of-the-century buildings, including the historic train depot, antique shop and art shop. Flowery Branch is a member of the Georgia Better Hometown Program.
